2nd attempt after problems with the first version, which I deleted. Adobe Captivate3 can't handle the multiple windows I was using so I switch to Camtasia 5 to produce the tutorial.

This is how I normally process my images for uploading to the internet. Other people will do other things but this is the basics that should be applied to any image being uploaded.

It goes through basic levels and curves and the resize and csharpening for the internet and a simple method for red eye removal.

Sorry it's a big file and for my local accent but it takes a lot less time to actually do than than to view.

The final image will be here. [link]

I've just realised where I've been going wrong. Thanks for the very informative tut on the basics.

I've been using film for about six years and as I don't develop my own rolls of film I always get the lab to put them onto a CD for me when they do my prints. As they're always JPEG and a fairly low quality scan & jpeg, would you have any tips on how to remove dust and speckles/noise without losing too much detail/quality?
I normally use PS7.

If you like the image you see above, it's probably not available through TheBluePrintMachine

I use a programme called Noise Ninja which is available off the net and will plug into PS7. If you use it gently it will remove some of the noise without losing too much detail

I have to say, I've been looking for a good tut on how to clean up photographs... and I've found some good ones, but it's so hard to read through all the steps. Putting them into a little movie where you can SEE every step and hear you explain it (VERY clearly, I might add)... is fantastic. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I know it will help me.
