Take one Rich Tea biscuit, which by the way is an incredible sacrifice by me, as they are great dunking biscuits. Stick it in front of an 0.177 air pistol and pull the trigger.
The muzzle velocity of this Beeman air pistol is approx 130 metres/second and the dangerous end was about 250mm from the biscuit.
A microphone was strapped to the pistol which was connected into a Time Machine. The Time Machine allows me to delay triggering the flashguns by a very small adjustable amount, in this instance 2 milliseconds. If you do the sums the pellet should of traveled 260mm in 2 milliseconds.
Two flashguns were used about 200mm from the biscuit and set to 1/128 of full power giving me a flash duration of approx. 1/35,000 second. The exposure was 2" @ f11 ISO 200 on a EOS 40D and a 100mm macro lens.
The blurred pellet is just visible in the end of the debris trail. The reason why it is blurred is that during the flash exposure of 1/35,00 second it has traveled almost 4mm.
Safety gear was worn i.e. full face safety visor and the pellet was caught by a target holder just out of shot on the right. I would NOT like to feel the pellet rebounding into my face!
If you start playing with this type of thing DO NOT BE STUPID

OMG...you killed a cookie. I feel compelled to report you to ASPCW (American Society for the Prevention of Cookie Wasting). I appreciate the safety tips, but a part of me wishes you'd said a magician stood behind the cookie & caught the pellet with his teeth. Feel free to try it at home (the earth is a bit crowded, thin the herd & conserve the gene pool). It's a brilliant shot- a technical tour du force

A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
