a shot of a Harris Hawk coming into the glove. Taken with a 20D and Canon 10-22mm lens @ 10mm setting. Flash was used in hi-sync mode so a shutter speed of 1/4000sec could be used with the flash giving some detail in the wing.
The talons were approximately 12" from the lens when the shutter was fired Comments
very neat picture, but the flash ruins it for me
-- "It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees." #PhotoHunt : The Place Where We Shoot For Fun! You know, that is something else Kev. The overall tone of the image is fantastic, and I love how you've shown us a side to this bird that not many other people would see! At 10mm, and about 12" away that must be quite a risk for camera gear, although I suspect these birds have a knack with accuracy
-- For great tips on photography check this news article: [link] I trust the handler SlinkyJynx and the bird
-- "It isn't what you feel that matters, it's who you touch" It was the only way to really freeze the bird at that range TH1RT3EN95. I know the perspective won't appeal to alot of people but it was an interesting experiment
-- "It isn't what you feel that matters, it's who you touch" Basically a real cool shot, I like the different perspective actually. Though I also have agree with TH1RT3EN95, the light makes it look weird. I understand you needed the flash... perhaps you could do something with the background in PS, to make it match better to the lighting of the bird.
Just a thought... -- Visit me at BOINC Synergy Team: [link] or in the music community of Last.fm: [link] or the Euro bill tracking community: [link] *is confused* Are this his eyes?!?
I think I've never seen a standstill image of a bird of prey in this position. Though it makes sense the eyes are that way, it looks weird. -- This is a self-commercial! So please visit my other gallery: [link] XD hehehe |
