This is stunning (as is all of your work). I don't see any jesses here, only reeds; I think it's best to leave them in, because they're natural and don't interfere with the beauty of the owl itself.

the more I looked at the comparison between Waiting I and Waiting II I prefer the uncluttered look without the reeds so I've modded the file desmo100. Not something I normally do

I guess to me, it looks good either way, as long as it's natural. I remove clutter when it obscures the animal's face or other important detail...but normally, I leave the background in, no matter what. My 300mm zoom takes care of clutter in the background, but stuff that's in the same plane as the subject can be annoying sometimes.
