Gallery Directors Induction Week :)

With just over a week under my belt as the new Gallery Directory for this section I can honestly say it's been alot of hard work but equally a lot of fun. Meeting and chatting with the existing Artist Relations Team and the new appointed Gallery Directors has been very 'educational' lol.
$Moonbeam13 as Director of Artist Relations and the other Senior members have put up with a significant number of really dumb questions from the new Gallery Directors, but mainly from me :) . There is a real buzz of excitement as the team bonds together, with everyone helping each other where they can. The support from the community has also been outstanding, thank you for every comment and note I have received, all of them have been read and most have been replied to.

First Impressions as a GD

The level of commitment by all of the dA Team is amazing and very professional. Ok, that's the suck up covered. It has been hours and hours of fun learning everything that is required of a Gallery Director :)

The DD suggestions have, in the main, been superb :) I have spent alot of time wandering through all of the galleries of the suggested deviants and the quality and inspiration I'm seeing just blows me away.

A few questions that are worth answering here:

Will I respond to all of the suggestions? Yes I will, it may not be immediately but I will respond
Will I tell you if I have selected an image for a DD? Not a chance  you will have to wait and watch the Daily Deviations to find out :)

The volume of work has surprised me, I spend alot of time moving images that been placed in the wrong categories. This time is wasted!!! the more time I waste doing this means the less time I have to respond to your notes and queries. Please please read the gallery descriptions before submitting images.
The worst category for this is easily Domesticated Animals. There are literally dozens of Dogs & Cats incorrectly uploaded into this category every day. These images have their very own Dogs & Cats category so Please only upload them there. The submission system is being revised to ease the selection of the category for your work but again, I have to ask you to help me and the other Gallery Directors by reading the Gallery descriptions and selecting the correct category.

Listed below are the Current Galleries listed within Animals, Plants and Nature :-

Everyone of them has a heap of hidden treasures that need to be seen, it's up to you to find them and nominate them for Daily Deviations for the community to admire (Click for submission guidelines) :)

Photography - Macro

There is good news for the macro photographers coming very shortly so be sure to keep watching for the announcement.

After discussions with all 9 photography GDs we have decided to bring Macro photography back.
The following sub-categories will be used:

Macro > Nature
Macro > Objects
Macro > Human

Stay tuned for further details as the categories and descriptions are finalized

Daily Deviations - just a few :)

Many thanks to you all for supporting the new Artist Relations Team as we find our feet.

Well, dogs and cats are domesticated animals, so I'm sure you can how that might get confused between the two categories.

Otherwise, I'm glad to hear you'll be responding to all DD Suggestion notes. That makes me happy. :D
:icondigitaldreamers:
There's going to be a Macro catagory again isn't there!? Pffft, you can't say though lol

Our macro club will be in it's element if that comes back!

You're doing a great job :)

They certainly are Lazybutt, but with the volume of dogs & cats being submitted they deserve their own category.

I have seen TONS of wrong category usage just from running a club and submitting members deviations to the club's gallery. :frustrated:

You're a very patient man :D

Macro news :excited: OMG...I can't wait :boogie:

People are probably putting their dogs and cats in "Domestic Animals" because thats what `superkev told everyone to do. [link]

":bulletred: All deviations from Animals Plants Nature > Dogs &Cats will be moved to Animals Plants Nature > Domesticated Animals

Please go through your gallery to make sure your photos are categorized properly, so this change can go as painlessly as possible. Thanks!"

I agree with lazybutt....this overlapping is rather confusing. And what to do with a 'wild' cat...? Or a domesticated hyena....(yes, they exist!) ;)
But alright.......*starts the moving*

many thanks Thrumyeye :) Yes there are a lot domesticated species but the more obviously wild ones should be placed in wild animals etc. If I have an image to submit I would look at the category that the subject would generally be seen in, not what I personally think it is.

Glad to hear that you are working on that 'Domesticated Animals' gallery. It sure does get overcrowded in there.
